South Africa, Israel, and "never again"
On December 29, 2023, a team of legal experts from South Africa brought a case before the International Court of Justice accusing the State of Israel of pursuing a policy of genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Post-apartheid South Africa bringing a case of genocide against the Israeli state, the children of the Holocaust, marks a critical moment in the history of the fight for a shared, rules based, international order to which all must be held to account.
