International Days
World Refugee Day - June 20th
His family fled war torn Syria to pursue a better life…anywhere. On World Refugee Day, we remember every child, woman, and man who have risked all to save themselves from war, hunger, terror, oppression, and crippling poverty.
And those of us who live in stable, medium and high income countries must ask ourselves if we are living up to our own ideas about how we should treat strangers in need. The world community overwhelmingly signed on to the convention and protocol on refugees, but anti-refugee sentiment is growing in the industrialized world every day, even in spite of ever greater wealth generation in these countries.
Who wouldn’t want to bring Alan back and give him (joyfully even) the rights and hope afforded refugees in these documents.
